ABSTRACT:
This study aimed to explore the issues of gender inequality in the Nepalese special education system. Qualitative research which consisted of a descriptive research design was utilized. It was conducted in Kathmandu Valley and centered on the six special education schools with a total participation of 24 teachers. The results identified many issues chiefly in the areas of instruction, lack of teacher training, school policies, socio-cultural background, sexual harassment, interaction with teachers, and parental support. It was concluded that these issues should be taken into deep consideration by the related stakeholders so that gender equity can be obtained in the field of special education in Nepal.
